I learned to build hot tubs from Mark Taylor of Satori Japanese baths.
The year I worked for him was 1979, building 50 tubs, most with elaborate
decks, benches, and fences, in the Berkeley and Oakland hills.

When I moved to Hawaii in 1980, I took four tubs with me, and I built a
total of 25 there, including one 5000 gallon redwood water tank.

The tub in these photos I built for my sister in Carpinteria, California in 1989.
It will probably be the last one I build.
